Wuri & The Waves: The Comic Compilation

This comic compilation is a collaborative creation by students from the Extensive Reading course of English Language Education Department Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana Yogyakarta and members of the English Club from Six Vocational Public High School Yogyakarta. Inspired by Wuri & Waves by Michael Lacey Freeman, this project brings together diverse interpretations and creative expansions of the story.
Through this project, students were encouraged not only to engage deeply with the text but also to explore their imagination, express their ideas visually, and develop their storytelling skills. Their dedication and creativity shine through in these pages, demonstrating how reading can be a gateway to both critical thinking and artistic expression. We hope this compilation inspires more students to see reading as an enjoyable and enriching experience—one that sparks curiosity and fuels creativity.
